Fall Harvest
Festival 2008: September 19-20. Friday 6-10 p.m. Saturday 8:30
a.m.-9:00 p.m.
Turn over a creative
“leaf” and let’s spend all weekend with fall foliage, flowers,
ornamentals, and a few good weeds! We’ll play at Aunt Willie's,
ride the hay wagon up the road to the Home Place (farmhouse built in
1860), and even gather weeds and wildflowers up on the ridge peering
over the mountains and treetops into North Carolina and Virginia.
Saturday evening all will head home with one bouquet in an antique
pitcher and another in a small crock, corn shocks extraordinaire,
a wall hanging of dried
materials, raffia-tied to an old farm handle,
pumpkin creations, and memories of shared flower experiences. All
weekend, you’ll
receive gentle guidance and instruction as you create
in the equivalent of 6
different workshops.
Plant materials will include grasses, celosia, dahlias, zinnias,
amaranths, sunflowers, cosmos, millet, broom corn, Indian corn,
pumpkins, corn stalks, and squash. Bring along your favorite container
for one arrangement, a desire to learn and experiment, and a sense of
adventure. You will receive a crock, basket, pitcher, and old farm
implement (rake, hoe, etc). Four catered meals provided. (Limit 10 -
$250 fee must be prepaid). Overnight accommodations available for a few
– extra fee.
