Wander our way and learn a bit, share a lot, and most of all have a bloomin’ good time. Let the countryside be your inspiration and join us at one or more farm events. You needn’t be experienced, just eager and willing. At evening’s end we’ll gather at the “door” for light refreshments before heading home.

For all events, bring gloves and good cutting scissors if you have them. Long pants are good if you plan to wander, as bees and poison ivy like flower farms too.

Christmas Centerpiece Workshops: Thursday, Dec. 11, 6:00 p.m., or Saturday, Dec. 13, 1:00 p.m. Decorate your table or mantle this holiday season with a festive centerpiece you create, featuring a variety of locally grown and harvested greens, unusual dried flowers, fresh fruit and berries. With proper care your centerpiece should remain fresh for weeks. Call 423-279-9972 or e-mail to reserve your spot. Cost of the workshop is $40 and includes all your supplies and pepperminty refreshments.

Mother’s Day Petal Party: Saturday, May 10, 2008, 9:00-11:30 a.m. Come and create one large and two small Mother’s Day bouquets and learn about peonies, baptisia, sweet William, and other spring bloomers. Receive one hand blown glass parmesan cheese shaker--from Ohio’s Moser glass factory--and learn to transform it into a sweet herb arrangement. We’ll investigate all things growing and sip lemonade while wearing Aunt Willie’s favorite hats. (Limit 15 - $35 fee must be prepaid. Fee includes Moser glass shaker)

Naturescape I (Stump Stuffin’): Tuesday, June 3, 2008, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Aunt Willie’s will provide all you need to create an arrangement straight from nature. You may choose from several gathered “finds” or wander and choose for yourself. Then we’ll add the cut flowers. All will head home with an arrangement to enjoy and a container to be reused with fresh materials another day. Bring a vase to take home an extra bouquet. (Limit 10 - $30 fee must be prepaid).

Naturescape II (Stump Stuffin’): Tuesday, June 10, 2008, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Same fun as above.

Hanging Basket: June 17, 2008, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Gather summer bounty of flowers and grasses and learn to arrange in a charming hanging basket. (Limit 12 - $40 prepaid fee includes basket)

Bouquets by the Bunches: Tuesday, July 8, 2008. Come and lean basic arranging and play in the bounty of summer! Bring 2 large vases/containers and 1 small and we’ll heap them with sweet william, zinnias, snaps, lisianthus, sunflowers, lilies, cleome, phlox, shastas, mints, and all things blooming. Light refreshments. (Limit 12 each night - $30 fee must be prepaid)

Pitcher of Lizzies: July 15, 2008, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Lisianthus is one of the prettiest flowers growing. We’ll gather lissies and snaps and arrange in an equally pretty pitcher. (Limit 10 - $40 prepaid fee includes pitcher)

Summer barbeque and a Crock full of Sunflowers: Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 6:00-9:30 p.m.  Gather for a picnic, complete with pulled pork barbeque and all the fixin’s. Then it’s off to the flower patch for heaping sunflowers, amaranthus, celosia, dianthus, pearl millet, rudbeckia and all things blooming into a large crock. Aunt Willie’s will provide the crock for sunflower stuffin’. Bring an extra vase or container to take more home. Light refreshments. (Limit 12 - $60 includes large crock and catered supper -- fee must be prepaid)

Fall Harvest Festival 2008: September 19-20. Friday 6-10 p.m. Saturday 8:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Turn over a creative “leaf” and let’s spend all weekend with fall foliage, flowers, ornamentals, and a few good weeds!  We’ll play at Aunt Willie's, ride the hay wagon up the road to the Home Place (farmhouse built in 1860), and even gather weeds and wildflowers up on the ridge peering over the mountains and treetops into North Carolina and Virginia. Saturday evening all will head home with one bouquet in an antique pitcher and another in a small crock, corn shocks extraordinaire, a wall hanging of dried materials, raffia-tied to an old farm handle, pumpkin creations, and memories of shared flower experiences. All weekend, you’ll receive gentle guidance and instruction as you create in the equivalent of 6 different workshops. Plant materials will include grasses, celosia, dahlias, zinnias, amaranths, sunflowers, cosmos, millet, broom corn, Indian corn, pumpkins, corn stalks, and squash. Bring along your favorite container for one arrangement, a desire to learn and experiment, and a sense of adventure. You will receive a crock, basket, pitcher, and old farm implement (rake, hoe, etc). Four catered meals provided. (Limit 10 - $250 fee must be prepaid). Overnight accommodations available for a few – extra fee.
