Farm Tour/U-Pick, Sept 19, 10 am-Noon

$38.00

We’re adding a second September farm tour and it’s even on a Saturday!  Flowers have decided they need to get all their blooming in before frost and the beds are full to overflowing. The glamour girl dahlias are toppling-over-pretty along with celosia, sedum, sunflowers, and a late succession of zinnias. Roy always kicks off the tour with a bit of story telling including tales from old farm days generations ago and a bit of getting acquainted. For this tour, Linda is going to demonstrate making a small bridal bouquet just for fun! Then it’s on to the cutting beds where Linda will explain the whole dahlia process. They’ll keep kicking out blooms til frost and they’re the best in September and October. There are blooms to gather, new arbors to wander under, and the HomePlace to explore.  We’ll talk about what will be planted in the hoop in November and discuss fall planting of hardy annuals.

Then on to Aunt Willie’s house and so many woodies and perennials. We have four types of hydrangea there and the limelight and tardiva are turning a pretty shade of pink right now and Linda will explain the difference between old and new-wood hydrangea. Our best foliage plants are here in abundance along with other perennials. The chicken coop turned flower studio is always fun to peek into and the cooler should have a few blooms cut and stored for upcoming events. Aunt Willie’s house is interesting to explore with all the vases, pitchers, and glassware that are stored upstairs. Of course we’ll be talking flowers the whole way with lots of time for questions and friend-making as we go.

Join us if you can . . . . we love our farm tour visitors and all the interest and excitement they bring to the farm! See below for payment and more details. Remember, there is NO RESTROOM at the Homeplace but there is after we move down to Aunt Willie’s.
