Farm Tour/U-Pick, Sept 10, 10 am-noon SOLD OUT!

Time for a September farm tour/U-Pick and this one is in the morning. The glamour girl dahlias are in full bloom along with celosia, sedum, Sunflowers, and a late succession of zinnias.  Roy always kicks off the tour with a bit of story telling including tales from old farm days generations ago and a bit of getting acquainted, and then it’s on to the cutting beds. We’re giving you an extra jar/cut to cut into as we have such an abundance of blooms! You can even bring your own vase if you’d rather. We started cutting a few dahlias the first of June and they keep on blooming through frost. Linda will explain the whole dahlia process while wandering the cutting beds There are blooms to gather, new arbors to wander under, and the HomePlace to explore.  We’ll talk about what will be planted in the hoop in November and discuss fall planting of hardy annuals.

Then on to Aunt Willie’s house and so many woodies and perennials. We have four types of hydrangea there and the limelight and tardiva are turning a pretty shade of pink right now. Linda will explain the difference between old and new-wood hydrangea. Our best foliage plants are here in abundance along with other perennials. The chicken coop turned flower studio is always fun to peek into and the cooler should have a few blooms cut and stored for upcoming events. Aunt Willie’s house is interesting to explore with all the vases, pitchers, and glassware that are stored upstairs. Of course we’ll be talking flowers the whole way with lots of time for questions and friend-making as we go. If you’re not too tired and would like to hike up to the cabin in the woods, we’re glad to walk along with you and tell you how this sweet little spot came to be.
